We Take Water Quality Seriously
El Paso Water places the highest priority on water quality, and the release of the 2016 Drinking Water Report gives us the opportunity to share what we do to guarantee a healthy and safe water supply for El Paso.
We get our drinking water from several sources including the river and local aquifers. Water goes through multiple filtration and treatment processes. To ensure the water is safe to drink, it is tested at our International Water Quality Lab, a state-of-the-art facility accredited by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality under national standards.
Each year, lab employees, who often have degrees in biology or chemistry, faithfully and diligently review more than 45,000 samples and perform more than 250,000 chemical and biological analyses as part of our water monitoring and testing program.
Required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Annual Drinking Water Report is available on our website www.epwu.org/2016WaterReport and details El Paso Water's compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.
